VR Integration

Hello!

For this week’s assignment we were tasked with creating Augmented/Virtual Reality integrated teaching material along with its ASSURE lesson plan as always. We had to introduce two landmarks, a museum and one cultural aspect of a city, we decided on Shanghai as our city and split the steps among our group. With Hilal, Yasemin and Beyza we created the handout and found good AR/VR software to introduce the city.

Task went well and was not challenging, however actually using the digital tools for VR may be difficult due to technical and coincidental problems.

I think using AR/VR for lessons like geography and biology would be extremely beneficial, and it can be used in so many ways. If access to VR headsets or XR glasses were more common, it would be useful tool for education. Even today with mobile phones, with virtual tours and augmented reality, it would be an incredible experience for learners, especially visual learners. English classes would benefit them as well; we can use AR/VR to show students virtual realia.

Overall, while it is not common nowadays it definitely will be in the future, or so I hope.

Upon the feedback we received, we made small changes. We added some questions in the beginning of the tasks as a prediction stage in order to make it more meaningful and connect the whole task together. We also order the questions so that factual questions come before the personal questions. We also updated the assure plan, made changes accordingly.
