Hi!
Good to see you.

I am back with a new assignment. This time our task was to create an AI-enhanced corpus-based teaching material for an in-class activity along with a lesson plan based on the ASSURE model.
With my partners, Hilal and Beyza, we first split the work and designed the material which vent really well then, we wrote the ASSURE lesson plan both of which you can access through these links below:

For our task we chose “must vs. have to” because it is something that many high school students find confusing and this activity would really help them grasp their differences. We used CorpusMate as our corpus because it was easier to use than others.

If our materials were used in a real classroom, the biggest problem would be technological access, because generally phones and other devices are not allowed in classrooms. Also, timing might be a problem if students get lost in too many examples with the corpus tool, pair work can also take time. However, all problems can be solved with adjustments for the specific classroom’s needs, like reducing the number of tasks or showing them exactly how to use the tools in the classroom. Overall, this assignment helped me understand how AI and corpora can help with language discovery in an engaging way.

UPDATE
The second draft of the material: https://www.canva.com/design/DAG5cvM1KA8/nVM2H_xMjmJ_NWCY90rkMA/edit?utm_content=DAG5cvM1KA8&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=sharebutton
In the second draft of our material, as a group we adjusted and added some numbers as well as QR codes to make it easier for learners to access the intended source. We also made the instructions clearer and removed the word "can" from the questions in the "discovery" section. For the last part, we changed the 20-30 seconds acting out role play time to "approximately one minute"
